March 16, 2007 - The 2007 CBC is now underway with over 40 bots participating from all over the world.

January 13, 2007 - It's unfortunate that two of our botmasters from last years contest Bob Norris and William Wynn have attempted to sabotage the contest. At end of the 2006 contest Bob posted in the Robitron forum such nonsense of how the contest was a scam and how the judging was rigged. I along with other botmasters responded to his unflattering remarks at the time. But Bob wouldn't let it rest. Together they then proceed to use an article we had placed on Wikipedia to help promote the contest for their own personal vendetta to slander the contest further.

To them it was just a game with William proudly boasting: "I'll try to register and see what he says. If I can get in I'll have some fun with him"

Too bad nobody but them were laughing at their slanderous remarks.

Oddly enough Bob Norris then has the gumption to enter this year's contest. When asked why would he want to enter a contest he thought was rigged he replied:

"Because I have a good chance to win"

To which I replied:

"How can you possibly think you have a good chance to win when you believe the contest is rigged?" Sorry Bob but you can't have it both ways.

The CBC has had its distracters from the very beginning from various botmasters who are sore losers who didn't like the end results. Instead of looking at the shortcomings of their own bot they attack the contest itself. However, the vast majority realize this and despite their negative efforts the contest continues today. In short, it's really very simple. If you believe the contest is rigged then simply don't enter. No need to go posting lies about the contest when it spoils the fun for the rest of us.

June 24, 2002 - Michal Zalewski reports a version 2 of Catty is available at http://lcamtuf.coredump.cx/catty-2.shtml Catty is based on a pretty interesting concept for a chat bot: she cannot learn, does not understand phrases or constructions in any language, does not "think", and does not come with any particular fact database. How does she work? All she has is google.com and a simple, blind word matching algorithm to pick sentences from the Internet that seems to be related to what she hears from you. As a result, you're pretty much talking to the net. Drop by his site today, Catty is a fun and interesting bot to talk to.
June 22, 2002 - Eden Cohen announced today that a new version of ECC-Eliza V4.08 is now available at http://ecceliza.cjb.net. Drop by his site today and download the latest.
